I have to create an award to give to Julie & Ryan because seriously… they take the prize for bravery. Some reasons? How about the fact that on their wedding day they walked along a sheer cliff next to one of the largest waterfalls in B.C., climbed into the thick of the rainforest along with…
Contact Me
My name is Christina and I'm the primary photographer at FunkyTown Photography. I also work with a fabulous team of second photographers and photo editors.

AWARDS & RECOGNITION
I have placed three times in the top 10 with the prestigious International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers and I was recently ranked second place overall with the Professional Wedding Photographers of Canada. I've also won several other high-profile international awards from Kodak, the Wedding Photojournalist Association, Fearless, WedComp and the AGWPJA plus a few of our weddings have been published in leading magazines and blogs.
EDUCATION
I have a master's degree in journalism from Carleton University and a diploma in photography from the Western Academy of Photography. While at Western, I won the award for best overall student and I'm now teaching the school's wedding photography and business courses. I also offer wedding photography workshops.
APPROACH TO WEDDINGS
I try to cover events during the wedding day with as little intrusion as possible, capturing moments as they happen. During portraits my goal is to keep everyone relaxed and having fun. I appreciate that most people aren't used to having someone follow them around all day. I'm willing to bet if you look through my online galleries you won't know who was camera shy and who wasn't (and many people I've worked with were very camera shy). That's because I work hard to help people feel comfortable in front of the camera and I provide instructions during portraits that will help you have a natural smile, not a forced one.
I love mixing photojournalism, fashion, fine art, the unusual and the "funky." I am happy to customize my style to suit your preferences since I believe you should spend your wedding day exactly how *you* want to spend it (not how your photographer wants you to spend it).
My experience includes photographing everything from small elopements to large celebrations with 400+ people. I've also been fortunate to photograph more than 35 international destination weddings.
NATURE PHOTOGRAPHY
In addition to people photography, I'm also really into travel and nature photography. Last year some of my wildlife images placed as a finalist in the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition and the Nature's Best Photography Contest. My nature galleries received more than three million visits last year.
