My name is Christina and I’m excited to help you succeed in your career as a wedding photographer. Like many of you, I became so completely addicted to photography that I quit a good paying job in high tech to pursue my passion full-time. Although it was scary and risky, it all paid off and I’ve never been happier!
As you know, there has been a revolution in wedding photography. I believe some of the most innovative techniques these days come from our industry. I’d love to share ways to help you find your own style and to attract clients who will love your work.
In 2010/2011 I placed in the top 10 three times with the International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers. I have also won high-profile international awards for my work from Kodak, the Wedding Photojournalist Association, WedComp, Fearless Photographers and the AGWPJA.
I currently teach wedding photography and business at the Western Academy of Photography in Victoria and I have also taught wedding and portrait photography at Camosun College. My training includes a master’s degree in journalism from Carleton University and a diploma in photography from the Western Academy of Photography where I won the award for Best Overall Student.
Before becoming a photographer, I worked as an online marketing manager for over 10 years. My knowledge of internet marketing has allowed me to have a first page ranking for most destination wedding photography keywords on Google. I have clients from all over the world and over the last two years I have photographed weddings in more than 20 destinations, including the US Virigin Islands, Mexico, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Barbados, the Bahamas and St. Lucia. I’ll tell you how I achieved some of these results and I’ll share ways you can market yourself to clients either locally or internationally.
I love mixing fashion, fine art, photojournalism and everything in between. Please feel free to browse around my portfolio or blog to see the kinds of things that inspire me. We’ll talk about how I achieved some of these results in the workshop.
P.S. I’m an open book and I don’t hold anything back. Have a question that you can’t find answered in the online bootcamp? No problem – Just ask and I’ll answer by video or by blog post!
