On this very sunny but windy autumn day in October, I had a chance to meet the loveliest family you ever did meet! During this 20-minute photography session we found two sheltered areas on the Government House property. And, as you can see from the photos, you’d never know it was windy in Victoria on that day!
If you’re a parent of a pre-teen and you’re wondering how we can capture their personalities without making them do anything that would appear ‘un-cool,’ you’ll want to read the info below these images.
In the meantime, I’m willing to bet you won’t make it past the first image before you have a big smile on your face.
How to photograph pre-teens in a way that still allows them to look cool
Now, let’s talk about photographing that awesome pre-teen in your life. During this session, I started by taking just some simple look-at-the-camera photos. Then, I told them to just explore their surroundings. It only took a few minutes before this pre-teen realized this wasn’t going to be that tough after all! Once I gained his trust, we were able to play what I call, “portrait games” that allow kids to just have fun while we take portraits that capture their true personalities.
As you can see, we can get a lot of great photos in a very short period of time (just 20 minutes for a mini-session and these photos only represent the highlights). Families have the option to purchase the full collection of downloadable images (with two versions of each photo – one in colour + one in black and white) from their family portrait session.
