For those wondering what exactly is involved in a longer play date portrait session, check out this super fun afternoon we spent at the Beacon Hill Park petting zoo in Victoria, B.C. I’ve been photographing this awesome family since their oldest was six months old and we always choose a place where the boys can play and be themselves. This family loves candid images so I take a documentary approach where I don’t ask anyone to pose or give directions of where to stand. If people look at the camera it happens naturally. We spent about an hour together and even caught the opening goat stampede, a first for their youngest! After the petting zoo we took a little stroll to the nearby play park and the kids had some fun on the swings and slides. As you scroll through the photos I dare you not to have a smile on your face!
This blog post shows only some of the photos from this family’s portrait session – they received considerably more in their full collection. Every family receives a storytelling slideshow and an online gallery where they can download their full collection (in both colour + black and white = two versions of each photo). These types of photos also lend really well for albums and serve as a great way to remember these fleeting moments in your kids’ lives.
