Rules for Getting Married in St. LuciaSaint Lucia is a very popular location for a destination wedding and fortunately there aren’t many marriage requirements! There is no residency period and if you want to get married within 24 hours of arriving on the island, you can apply for a special license. If you and your fiance will be on the island for 3 or more days before your wedding, you can just apply for a regular Saint Lucia marriage license, which is less expensive. If you want to get married the same day you arrive and need a special license, mail in your documents ahead of time to the Attorney General so that the application can be processed by the time you arrive. On this Caribbean island you have to make your application to be married through a local solicitor to the Attorney General or notary who will prepare and sign your Saint Lucia marriage license. For a regular marriage license, you’ll want to allow 3-5 business days for your application to be processed, which means you should be on the island for 3-5 days before your wedding date. Documents you need for a Saint Lucia marriage license are your passports and birth certificates. If name has been changed you’ll need the Deed Poll. If either party has been divorced or widowed then Decree Absolute or Death Certificate is required. If either you or your fiance are under 18 then parents consent is required. Lastly, if any required documents are not in English then an authenticated translation must be available. Once you have your Saint Lucia marriage license, you can get married anywhere on the island. You can choose to have a your wedding on the beach, by the Piton Mountains, in a church or wherever else your heart desires! Powered byEMF Contact Form |
