Steve and Silva are artists, hikers, cyclists and really cool people… who just happened to meet at a party at my place in 2011. I remember Steve (who had just finished art school) asking questions about Silva (who had just finished Photo school) long after she had left for the night… and it wasn’t long before these two became not just Silva or Steve, but Silva & Steve!
And so it was an extra honor to be asked to photograph their wedding – involving a gorgeous 40 minute hike to a stunning hilltop I’ve never visited called Scafe Hill (part of Thetis Lake Regional Park) at golden hour – surrounded by their closest family members (with some, like Silva’s sister from the east coast, who they hadn’t seen in a really long time).
A very special congratulations Silva & Steve! It was a true honor to photograph your day and to call you friends. Xx
P.S. Thank you to my handsome and talented Hotty McHotty husband Derek for photographing this wedding with me (and for carrying all that gear up and down the mountain!!!). Many of these photos were taken by Derek.
Traditional territory
The summit known as Scafe Hill is on the traditional territory of the Lekwungen people. “The cultural heritage protected within the CRD Parks system is as ancient as some of the oldest cultural sites in North America, not just on Vancouver Island.” A cultural History of Three Parks, Liz Crocker
