This collection of photos are going to speak for themselves about the joy, happiness and laughter Connie and Winston had on their wedding day but it was such a great weekend that I still need to say some stuff from the heart. I met Connie through our Alma Mater (the Western Academy of Photography in Victoria) and since she’s a pretty awesome photographer, I was completely flattered when she chose me for their wedding. Adding to the excitement? Their celebration was going to be at Secrets St. James in Montego Bay, Jamaica! This small group of people (14 — and only three of them were guys, including the groom) was so large with life. Although there were many, some of the best moments were:
- When the girls surprised Connie by sewing messages into her wedding dress from both her grandmothers.
- Winston shaving with Connie’s grandfather’s razor from the 1940s… and knowing all about the fascinating history of the razor maker and company t’boot.
- Winston and Connie both getting their tears wiped by the wedding officiant. Actually, all the tears. I love tears.
- Winston opening his gift from Connie (a SIGNED) hockey jersey from his hero, Mark Messier!
- How we’d all meet at “Cindy’s beach” since you could always rely on seeing Connie’s mom’s head bobbing in the water pretty much all day. On the wedding day, instead of trashing the bridal gown, Cindy jumped in and did a “Mother of the Bride” dress trashing instead!
- Everyone singing along at full blast to the music curated by all the guests.
- The feeling I had when I was leaving… a reminder of why I love to photograph weddings. This one was really special.
